History
In 1975, Phil Erickson founded Erickson Framing as a framer for major home builders in Phoenix. In its early days, Erickson helped pioneer the concept of complete framing systems. In 1986, Erickson acquired a Phoenix truss facility to complement its framing operations, and then expanded into California in 1996.
A New Era of Panelized Framing
Recognizing an opportunity to increase efficiency and quality during the ‘90s, the company transitioned from stick-framing to panelized framing, a process in which wall panels, floor panels and roof systems are fabricated at a factory, then shipped and erected at the construction site. For our customers, this method dramatically reduces construction time, material waste, labor inputs and carrying costs, while improving quality.
Changing Leadership
In 2007, Masco Framing Corporation, a division of the publicly traded home improvement and building products company Masco Corporation, acquired Erickson. Like every business involved in the building industry supply chain, we endured a variety of difficulties during that time period due to the recession, but we survived the storm and emerged even stronger than before thanks in part to valued longtime customers and a new owner, Atlas Holdings LLC, which acquired Erickson from Masco in 2012.
Based in Greenwich, Connecticut, Atlas has deep experience in building materials and wood products—and a track record of success with companies it invests in, which includes industry leaders like Bridgewell Resources, RedBuilt engineered wood products and Wood Resources LLC.
Atlas’ operations encompass more than 70 facilities and 9,000 employees worldwide. Its businesses are engaged in a wide range of industries, including food and agriculture, pulp and paper manufacturing, packaging, capital equipment, and industrial and business services.
A Promising Future
With a solid balance sheet, the backing of Atlas and the leadership of a highly experienced management team, we are poised for a successful future.
Today, Erickson leads the industry with computer-assisted production facilities in Chandler, Arizona, and Roseville, California. We serve Arizona, Northern California and the greater Reno, Nevada area, offering complete framing solutions that include design services, material sourcing, manufacturing, delivery and installation. We also provide doorways, trim and millwork through Door Sales & Installations (DSI), a Chandler-based division of Erickson.
