Safety Coordinator

Location: Chandler, AZ

PURPOSE:

This position is responsible for promoting a safety-first culture and minimizing unsafe work practices through jobsite visits, training, and proactive coaching.

  • Facilitate a safety-first culture, where safety of our employees is the top priority.
  • Effectively communicate safety concerns, initiatives, training needs, preventative actions, and other safety related topics with division management, Superintendents, and production employees.
  • Interview applicants and conduct new hire orientation for newly hired employees.
  • Conduct site audits, on-the-job training, incident investigations.
  • Conduct CBO’s in the yard.
  • Attend the annual Safety Summit.
  • Maintain safety equipment for the division (the Safety Manager will be responsible for purchasing all equipment). This includes first aid kits, fire extinguishers, ladders, nail guns, etc.
  • Maintain division safety library and records including trainings, policies and procedures, drug tests, orientation forms, and other safety-related documents.
  • Maintain all Workers’ Compensation files. Attend doctor’s appointments and work with insurance carrier to ensure employee returns to work. Report all new claims to insurance carrier and communicate any updates as necessary. Send modified duty timesheets, attend monthly WC calls, and manage ReEmploy Ability for modified duty when necessary.
  • Maintain Foremen boxes for the Field Foremen.
  • Manage and maintain all dust control permits, oversize permits, certifications, and FMCSA registrations. Also ensure that the division is compliant with state and federal guidelines.
  • Other tasks as necessary.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 3-5 years’ previous construction experience.
  • Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and workers’ compensation process a plus.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is required.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Valid driver’s license required and must be able to pass an MVR and background check.
