PURPOSE: This position performs layout and design of trusses.

• Create cost effective and accurate layouts and truss designs from architectural and structural drawings using all associated details and city, county, and state building codes.
• Create designs consistent with known internal best practices and production methods.
• Provide technical expertise and knowledge to internal field staff and external clients when necessary.
• Other duties as necessary.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

• A minimum of three years’ truss design experience.
• Previous Framing experience preferred.
• Manual and computer drawing skills.
• Knowledge of wood trusses and state building codes.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Ability to interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating procedures, maintenance instructions, etc.
• Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing with Engineers as well as internal and external customers, clearly and professionally.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and dimension variables in situations where only limited information exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.
• Ability to maintain a safe working environment.
